This course focuses on instruction and practice in teaching the writing of quality research reports to students in grades 6-12. The course provides teachers with instruction in guiding students to develop research ideas, gather valid information, analyze relevant data, organize disparate materials, craft a well-reasoned report, and use deliberate techniques to fine-tune before presentation. In addition to receiving information specific to writing research reports, teachers will be given the opportunity to practice such instructional techniques as modeling, scaffolding, paraphrasing, and discovery.
